About Us
Being an empty nester, I've been thinking about a dog. Maybe I've been watching too many episodes of Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan on the Discovery Channel. I love the show and think I can be a pack leader. So then the obvious question... "What breed of dog do I want?" or more accurately, "What kind of dog is best suited to my energy and life style?" as Cesar would put it.
So I went to the web and started reading on dog breed sites. A lot of the information seemed skewed toward toward people who wanted to show their dogs. They had information on the characteristics of the breed and what would disqualify an individual dog from being in show competitions. More information about whether the dog was recognized as a breed and other information that was of little interest to someone looking for a pet.
Then came the idea. Why not build a site for people like me. And that's how Dogfacto.com came into being. That and the fact that I am a web developer and learn best by doing and typing. I retain more of what I type than what I read. I am no dog expert... not yet by a long shot. I'm just learning and finding the learning fun. If know about a certain breed of dog and see that I have bad or incorrect info on the site, send me an email. After all, there's a lot of conflicting info online and that is where I am looking for facts and pictures. Let me know about your dog, your experience with a particular breed and I will put it online. Really!
